While the Dark One was defeated at Tarmon Gai'don, and his prison resealed, the Shadow was not entirely defeated. After increasing the ranks of Forsaken to thirteen once more, only two were known dead at the time the Dark One was sealed away. Though they do not roam the world as brazenly as they once did, those who remain have been steadily increasing their influence since the time of the breaking.

The Blight receded almost completely following the Last Battle, though it is ever threatening to creep back. The ancient site of Malkier has been revealed once more, though it remains abandoned. Shadowspawn still roam what is left of the Blight, fought back by the ever-vigilant Borderlanders.

Myrddraal, Gholam and Grey Men have all presumably survived, though the latter two are far less common, to the extent that few even now believe in their existence. Though knowledge of Shadowspawn increased during Tarmon Gai'don, the intervening years have once again softened their memory in the minds of Southlanders.
