Characters in the White Tower begin as Novices before being raised to Accepted and, finally, to Aes Sedai. To be raised from Novice to Aes Sedai, you must complete:
One embracing or seizing credit
Five lesson credits
One teaching credit
Two social roleplay credits
One major roleplay credit
Any applicable Talent credits
Embracing or Seizing
Embracing or seizing credits may be done either in a class, or in a social (block breaking) thread. Novices who have not channelled before coming to the White Tower will not have blocks, and should complete an embracing or seizing class. Novices who have channelled before coming to the White Tower will have a block, and you may roleplay an embracing or seizing class, a block breaking session, or both.
All Novices who have a block must complete a block breaking session, either as a Novice or Accepted. This may be counted for an embracing or seizing credit, lesson credit, social roleplay credit or major roleplay credit. You should inform an administrator of which credit you would like before you begin your thread.
Embracing or seizing class requirements may be determined by the teacher. Block breaking threads must be at least three posts of 500 words each.
Embracing or seizing credits must be completed at Novice level.
Lessons
Lesson credits must include at least one channelling credit, one elective credit, and one Ajah exploration credit. At least one Ajah exploration credit must be in your character's chosen Ajah. The two remaining credits may be in any area you choose.
Lesson credits do not have to be fulfilled through taking classes. All of them may be, if you enjoy taking classes, or none, if you prefer social roleplays. The Ajah exploration credit may be fulfilled by taking a class specific to your character's chosen Ajah, or by completing independent study related to that Ajah (for example, having your character study ter'angreal with a Red, or helping a Grey to mediate disputes). Channelling credits may be fulfilled by taking a general channelling class, taking a class in a Talent your character does not posess, or by roleplaying your character channelling significantly. (Please note that if you choose the latter option as a Novice, and are unsupervised, you will have to complete an In Character penance.) Elective requirements are the most flexible of all; they may be fulfilled by taking an elective class, taking a class specific to an Ajah other than your character's chosen Ajah, completing a penance, completing independent study, or completing an approved social roleplay.
Elective, channelling and Ajah class requirements may be determined by the teacher. Social roleplays used to fulfil lesson credits must be at least three posts of 500 words each.
Channelling and elective credits may be completed at any level. Ajah credits must be completed at Accepted level.
Teaching
The teaching credit is simple - your character is required to teach a class. This may be either an elective or channelling class. In addition, teaching credit may be given for completing an approved social roleplay.
Social roleplays used to fulfil teaching credits must be at least three posts of 500 words each. For more information on class requirements, please see the information on teaching a class.
Teaching credits must be completed at Accepted level.
Social Roleplay
Social roleplay credits are earned through having your character interact with others. It is recommended that you collaborate with other players for this requirement, however you may elect to have two or more of your own characters interact.
Social roleplays must be at least five posts (per character). There is no word limit for social roleplays (other than those set out in the site rules), however it is recommended that they be at least 500 words.
At least one social roleplay must be completed at each level.
Major Roleplay
A major roleplay is intended to be a solo thread in which your character undergoes significant character development. The scope of a major roleplay is left open for you to decide, however all major roleplays must be approved by an administrator before you begin your thread. To gain approval, simply PM an administrator with a proposed outline of your MRP.
Major roleplays must be at least five posts of 500 words.
Major roleplay credits may be completed at any level.
Talents
Talents are optional, and each character may have a maximum of three Talents. For each Talent your character posesses, you will have to complete an extra credit. You may fulfil this credit by completing a class in the Talent, or by completing an approved social roleplay in which your character discovers the Talent.
Talent class requirements may be determined by the teacher. Social roleplays used to fulfil Talent credits must be at least three posts of 500 words each.
Talent credits must be completed at Accepted level, except with permission.
Remember, these requirements are designed to be flexible. If you have any questions about these requirements, feel free to contact an administrator.
