Lessons
Lessons are scheduled individually by each faction. They may include embracing, seizing and channelling classes; elective, Ajah and specialty classes; weaponry classes; and individual training and social roleplay threads.
Structure In the White Tower, Garrison, Black Tower, Children of the Light and Academy, classes are held in their own subforums. These classes generally consist of four or five parts, each posted as a separate thread. To receive credit for a class, students must reply to each part of the class. Among the Aiel, Atha'an Miere and Seanchan, lessons are structured as a single thread within the appropriate training forum. Some lessons in other factions, including block breaking and individual training threads, are structured this way also. Teaching Once your class have been approved, a subforum will be created for your class. Each part of the class should be posted individually, generally one week apart. Once each part is posted, teachers must post in the Notice Board, giving students details of the class, including who may join, how long replies must be (250-500 words is recommended), and whether new students may still join. After the last part of the class is posted, teachers must give a closing date for the class, after which it will be archived, and the teacher will give out credits. Individual class threads may be started at any time. If you have any questions about classes, including structure or requirements, they may be directed to the Amyrlin Seat, or to the head of training for your faction. Channelling Any channelling classes, including embracing and seizing classes, are only available to characters who can channel. Embracing and seizing classes are required of all channelling characters, to be completed in your own faction. Channelling classes are available only to characters who have completed an embracing or seizing class. Channelling classes may be limited to certain characters only (eg. Accepted Channelling), or may be open to more than one group. Inter-faction channelling classes may occasionally be held. Electives Elective classes held within a faction are generally open to any member of that faction. Inter-faction elective classes may often be held; for example, Trainees and Younglings are often allowed to attend White Tower elective classes. Weaponry Introductory weaponry classes held in the Garrson are generally open to Trainees, Younglings, Soldiers and Dedicated. Introductory weaponry classes held in other factions are generally open to members of that faction only. Advanced weaponry classes are open only to second rank characters who have completed the corresponding introductory class. Talents All character must take one lesson in each of their Talents. Talents classes are available only to second rank characters, and may be restricted to only those chracters who posess the Talent. Inter-faction Talents classes may occasionally be held. Character with a Talent that cannot be taught (eg. Foretelling) must complete an individual or social roleplay thread exploring that Talent. Bonding Bonding classes are required of all Younglings. These classes may occasionally be open to Novices and Accepted for elective credit, or may be available to Younglings only. Ajahs Specific Ajah lessons may be taken by Novices or Accepted for elective credit. In addition, Accepted are required to complete at least one lesson in the Ajah to which they aspire. This may be a scheduled class or, if one is not available, an individual or social roleplay thread. In addition, elective classes based on a particular Ajah may often be held. An elective class appropriate to your Ajah may be substituted for an Ajah exploration class, with permission.
Specialties Asha'man specialties are akin to Ajahs, but are more informal. Dedicated are required to complete at least one lesson in the specialty to which they aspire. These lessons may be open to Soldiers and Dedicated, or to Dedicated only. For a list of all classes that may be held, see here. If you would like to teach or request a class, or to suggest a new class idea, contact the head of training for your faction. The Age of Glory is © Aiyana Ellisande.
