Black Tower
At the end of the Third Age, the Black and White Towers merged under the Dragon Reborn to fight at Tarmon Gai'don. Though they were successful, the ranks of both were decimated. As the world was breaking, the Aes Sedai approached the Asha'man with a proposal: to merge the two Towers, to make one place where men and women alike could come to learn to channel. This proposal was rejected by the Asha'man, however, who decided instead to rebuild the Black Tower where Dragonmount once stood. Pledged to continue the work of the Dragon, to eliminate the agents of the Shadow who still roamed the earth, the Black Tower grew in its ranks to once again equal the White.

After Mazrim Taim was exposed, Logain Ablar was raised to the position of M'Hael. He, too, died at Tarmon Gai'don, after which the Asha'man were disbanded, lacking a Tower to return to. Roryn da'Bekkar, an Asha'man raised just before the final battle, took the initiative to gather all the male channellers he could find and reform the Black Tower. Rejecting the White Tower's offer of a union in 11 ATG, he instead decided to rebuild the Black Tower in the manner of the White. This was completed in 18 ATG and, as the Black Tower solidified, he accepted an amnesty with Tar Valon, an offer, not to merge, but to work together in harmony.

Roryn da'Bekkar was M'Hael until 67 ATG, at which time he was killed, presumably by one of his own Asha'man, and Benjamin Seiora was raised in his place. More progressive than the previous M'Hael, he re-established peace with the White Tower after Roryn had declared their amnesty nullified with the acceptance of male Aes Sedai into the White Tower. Moreover, it was he who accepted the bid of Lanila Marany in 78 ATG to become the first female Soldier of the Black Tower. While this was an unpopular decision, she was raised to Asha'man within a year, and the decision was not reversed.

Benjamin died in 91 ATG away from the Black Tower. He was replaced by Resolute al'Therin. In 100 ATG, A group of renegade Asha'man forcibly bonded a number of Aes Sedai and civilian women in Cairhien. After a delegation from both the Black and White Towers was sent, a shism was sent through the Black Tower, dividing those who supported the reengades and those who did not. Eventually, with the situation growing out of hand, Resolute was deposed and the Tsovoran'M'Hael, Lev Talumin, raised in his place.

The current M'Hael is Lev Talumin. A new Tsovoran'M'Hael has yet to be appointed.
